On Dec 8, 2010, at 12pm EST we are excited to bring you Dr. Mathias Uhlen speaking about the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) program.  The HPA is using antibody-based protein profiling based on the human genome sequence data.  Through their “high throughput proteomics” they are able to produce protein localizations in human cells, tissues and organs, and many cancer tissues as well.

The Protein Atlas data is available for researchers online in Version 7 of human protein atlas to investigate.  We’ve shown you the previous version of Human Protein Atlas, and how Dr. Uhlen’s team has mined the data to discover cancer biomarkers.

Here we’ll use Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR)
You see to the right all the data that’s available. To find the HPA antibodies with buckets of data, click “Antibodies”.

Here we have many many  antibodies associated with EGFR.  Then, thanks to HPA and Atlas, we have a select group of antibodies tested for activity in normal and cancer tissues.

Find these on the Product page designated by a Product # starting with the letters “HPA”

Click on it…and you have IHC images from HPA showing the binding activity of  Antibody HPA018530 .
