Scientists are entertaining

This week, let’s take a tour of different social media sites to pull together some of the creative and hilarious things that are out there in the name of Science.

Unicorns of the Hydrocalypse: There are some really fun videos here.  Including a Lady Gaga rewrite, “Lab romance”, an analysis of the “Beard-ome”, and they dare to ask the question, “Team Watson? Or Team Crick?”

My all time favorite scientist Facebook group is “You know you’ve worked too long in a lab when…” where the members post things like “LB Broth is starting to smell tasty.”

My second favorite gropu on Facebook is “We look so sexy in our lab coats we have to wear goggles…for protection.”

I Heart the Brain is a Facebook group of neuroscience researchers sharing their love of the brain.

Moving over to YouTube!

The Protein Synthesis dance from the 70’s!  This cool film shows how protein is made through the art of DANCE! It’s very “Age of Aquarius”.

Dance your PhD: Mechanisms of lateral inhibition between olfactory bulb glomeruliThis is my favorite “Dance your PhD” simply for the quick switches in songs… particularly at 1:45 going from an Indian pop song to John Denver’s, “Thank God I’m a country boy.”

What are your favorite science funnies?
